These sites have been selected because they appear of general interest or they have useful links to other organizations, many of them outside of North America. Some of them have helpful documents that can be downloaded. Others have links to reading lists, or refer to helpful video or online resources. Many of them describe activities you may want to see in your community.

This site has good links to organizations supporting prevention of domestic violence. Produced by a domestic violence activist, this site is a collection of links, and information specific to New York state, as well as many articles about domestic violence — how to stop it, the connection with alcohol, statistics and advice for community response. There is also a handbook for victims and helpers that includes safety planning and risk assessment, available services, a reading list and information on domestic violence.

Includes a checklist for group action; links to information on model projects concerning rehabilitation of abusers, housing for abused women, and prevention of abuse.  I was able to access this through The Safety Zone, but not directly.

Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence

The Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence is an New England-based organization that conducts outreach, education, violence prevention, counselling, and advocacy programming aimed at ending domestic violence.  Their resources are specifically directed toward Asian families, providing much-needed multicultural and multilingual programs and information.

When Love Hurts: A Guide for Girls in Love, Respect and Abuse in Relationships

The Domestic Violence and Incest Resource Centre, funded by the Australian government has created this new web site, which includes a wealth of useful information.   Find relational warning signs, a respect checklist, safety plans, a space to write down feelings, ideas to consider, legal information, and a list of Australian support services.

Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa

Ottawa is one of a number of North American cities with groups that are “dedicated to inspiring young people to get involved and have a voice in their communities.”–Ottawa Citizen.  In addition to projects involving youth, the organization shows the community how to be inclusive, with hotels and businesses becoming accessible and more helpful to young citizens and young visitors.

This electronic clearinghouse contains information and links on many issues, teaching resources, conferences, papers online, and global concerns of peace and human rights.  Easy to get around and rather extensive, the site is a good resource for those looking to do their own research on a particular issue.

"Canadian based site targeted at teens and teachers, provides an education and action kit".
