TOF 98-01
| The project trains and employs young people who might otherwise be unemployed and at the same time helps working women by providing medium-priced pre-cooked meals. Local agricultural produce is frozen at harvest time and is then prepared, packed and sold throughout the year in the local market thus stabilizing the supply of vegetables and helping to reduce their price. The local YMCA has provided land and local Ys Men are also contributing financially and with expertise. |

| Since losing her husband in an accident, Saydya Hussein has struggled to look after her three children and her mother-in-law. When she was about to be thrown out of her home because she was unable to pay the rent she went to ask the YMCA for a loan but instead was offered a job in the project with three months advance pay, which she accepted immediately. She is hardworking and punctual and her family now live a modest but happy and secure life. | |

The husband of Riyah Hillal was convicted and jailed, leaving her with three children and no financial resources. She is now working two shifts in the project to increase her income. Her elder son also works in the project while the other two children are doing well in school. They benefit from the cheap meals offered to employees. The project has saved the family from being broken up and has given them a degree of security. |
