2026 International Convention Bids
The bidding process for the 2026 International Convention is now open.
The deadline for bids is
31 May 2023
The bids will be reviewed by the International Convention Site Screening Committee and the International Council is expected to confirm the 2026 venue during the International Council Meeting in August 2023.
An International Convention shall typically be sponsored by a Region; exceptions may be made for special anniversary years or for other unique or extraordinary occasions. Any Region contemplating the submission of an International Convention Bid should assure itself that it possesses qualified, experienced leadership, adequate personnel to constitute a Host Committee (HC) and a site which can conveniently accommodate up to 1,000 participants. Ideally, the suggested location will also have other facilities available and appropriate should registration numbers be greater than 1,000 or significantly smaller. The Regional Director (RD) should review the International Convention Manual it carefully with their key leaders so that they understand the full scope of their responsibilities before submitting a bid.
The manual has been prepared to assist all those contemplating the sponsorship of an International Convention or charged with the responsibility of conducting an International Convention to recognise the scope of activities involved. It contains a step-by-step development of actions required for a smooth operation before, during and after the convention. It attempts to ensure that all facets of convention activities will be recognised and properly handled in a timely manner.
Involvement in an International Convention should be a rewarding experience for all involved, whether participant or committee member. Adequate preparation and timely execution of responsibilities will make this goal a reality.
The geographical spread of venues for International Conventions should be a welcome challenge for any Region. It is hoped that this detailed manual will encourage Regions to step forward and submit bids to host International Conventions.
