It is again time for the International Elections, one of the most participative processes in our Movement. It is the right and duty of all eligible clubs to take part in the election process.

Online voting

After a successful introduction last year, voting will again be conducted entirely online, with eligible clubs receiving an email with a link to the voting ballots. Clubs with voting privileges (in good standing and with minimum of 15 club members during last 3 semesters and those that have been granted an exemption) that have provided IHQ will a valid email address for the Club President or approved representative will receive a an email with a link to the online ballot.

Eligible clubs will receive a link to voting ballots by email.

If your club is on the list of eligible clubs and does not receive a voting ballot, contact IHQ. Select “Report missing election ballot” and provide as many details as possible.

Important notes on the election

  1. It is their right and responsibility of all clubs to vote freely for their chosen candidate(s).
  2. Voting ballots should be completed by the club president or authorised representative, as per the decision of the club, and submitted before the deadline.
  3. Any complaints or concerns regarding the voting process must be sent to the Regional Director Troika (Regional Director, Regional Director Elect and Past Regional Director).
  4. If necessary, the complaint or concern will be sent to the Area President Troika (AP Troika) for consideration. Only the AP Troika may approach the Nominating Committee for further possible action on complaints or concerns.
  5. Clubs and/or individuals must not directly contact the Nominating Committee, International Headquarters or International Secretary General with complaints or concerns about the voting process.
  6. Individual canvassing, canvassing on behalf of any individual candidate or any other activity that may enhance any candidate’s chances of election including but not limited to letters, emails, flyers, phone calls, faxes, face-to-face visits, meetings or other interactions intended to influence, directly or indirectly, any club’s choice of candidate(s) is not permitted
  7. Group canvassing, canvassing on behalf of any group or panel of candidates or any other activity that may enhance a particular group or panel of candidates’ chances of election including but not limited to letters, emails, flyers, phone calls, faxes, face-to-face visits, meetings or other interactions intended to influence, directly or indirectly, any club’s choice of candidate(s) is not permitted.

International President Elect (IPE)

Candidates were nominated by the International Council from names submitted by Regional Directors on behalf of each Region and by the Nominating Committee.

The final three candidates for International President Elect 2020/21 are:

International Treasurer Elect (ITE)

Candidates were nominated by the International Council from names submitted by Regional Directors on behalf of each Region and by the Nominating Committee.

The final two candidates for International Treasurer Elect 2020/21 are:

International Council Members (ICM)

Asia Pacific Area

From 1 July 2020, Asia Pacific will have 2 seats on the International Council. The Area has gained an additional seat following the most recent census.

This year Asia Pacific Area will elect one (1) person as International Council Member, to serve 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2022. Two (2) candidates for one (1) seat have been nominated and they have accepted to stand for election.

Africa Area

Mr Tom Ibusi WAKA (Africa Southeast Region) was elected earlier this year to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and then as Area President/International Council Member from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2022, and therefore election of an International Council Member Elect is not needed at this time.

Only one candidate for one seat was nominated, so no election of Area President Elect/International Council Member Elect for Canada/Caribbean Area is needed. Mr Brian MINIELLY (Central & Western Canada Region), will serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and then as Area President/International Council Member from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2023.
