YMI World – March 2026

The March edition of YMI World places community service and environmental responsibility firmly at the heart of our movement.

This month’s cover celebrates a significant milestone: the YMCA Camp Centre in Aluva, Kerala, has achieved carbon-neutral status through the successful completion of its solar energy project. Supported by YMI’s Environmental Protection Fund, this achievement is more than a technical upgrade. It is a clear statement that our environmental commitments can lead to measurable and lasting change.

Across this issue, sustainability is not treated as an abstract goal but as practical action. From Kosovo’s Camp Pjetershan now operating fully off-grid, to solar installations in India and renewed calls to support the Environmental Protection Fund, YMI’s green transition is visible and tangible. The message is clear: environmental stewardship is no longer optional. It is central to our mission and aligned with Strategy 2032 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

March is also Emphasis Month for Community Service. The call to share impactful projects reminds us that service takes many forms, whether through tree planting, healthcare support, youth empowerment, or visible local initiatives such as Week4Waste. Each effort strengthens communities while reinforcing YMI’s public presence.

This issue also spotlights the Nakuru YMCA Young Mothers and Girls’ Empowerment Project in Kenya, a Time of Fast initiative focused on dignity, skills development, and sustainable livelihoods. Presented in connection with International Women’s Day, it demonstrates how targeted investment can transform futures.

Elsewhere in this issue of YMI World, you’ll find:

  • Reports from the International Mid-Year Meeting and preparations for the RDE Summit
  • Updates on membership growth and expansion into new countries
  • Area highlights from Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, India, Korea, Latin America, and the United States
  • UN observance days that connect global priorities with local action
  • Reflections on faith and service in the Christian Emphasis section

As we move into the final quarter of the 2025/26 term, March challenges us to measure our impact, strengthen our commitments, and ensure that our actions match our declarations.

Contributions for the next issue of YMI World are due by 15 March 2026.

Let’s keep writing this story, together.
