Founder’s Day 2023

Every year YMI celebrates Founder’s Day on 8 December, commemorating the birth of our first international president, Judge Paul William Alexander on that day in 1888. It is an auspicious occasion that allows clubs to share the pertinent and impactful work they are doing to achieve our mission of making the world a better place.

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
(Mathew 25:40)

On Founder’s Day, we pay tribute to the visionary ideals that paved the way for our organisation’s inception and the profound impact we continue to make in communities worldwide. Reflecting on YMI’s early leaders, I am reminded of the timeless values that they embodied, and which continue to unite us – service, fellowship, and impact. Their legacy inspires us to strive for excellence in our work, and we must recognise their role in the development of our movement over the past century. The Paul William Alexander Legacy initiative evolved from such a desire and its corresponding projects were realised as a sign of respect and appreciation for our founder.

In our journey spanning 101 years, we have weathered challenges and triumphed together, standing as a beacon of hope and pillar of support for those in need. Through our fundamental partnership with the YMCA, we have assisted in the empowerment of young people. Our collective efforts have helped brighten many lives, fostering positive change and belief in a better tomorrow.

Founder’s Day is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a symbol of the shared passion that binds us across cultures and languages. It is a testament to the remarkable contributions of every member, whose dedication and selflessness embody the true legacy of Y’s Men International.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us rekindle the flames of our commitment. Our mission is not just to exist but to thrive and make a meaningful difference. I encourage each club and club member to embrace innovation and collaboration in your service initiatives. Explore new avenues to address emerging challenges, leveraging our collective strengths and expertise.

Remember, it is the small acts of kindness, the genuine efforts to uplift those in need, and the unwavering dedication to our cause that define us as Y’s Men. Let us continue to sow the seeds of goodwill and compassion, nurturing a world where every individual can flourish in an equitable and sustainable world.

Happy Founders Day, dear friends!
