The 75th International Convention of Y’s Men International is officially underway in Penang, Malaysia, bringing together club members and guests from around the world for a celebration of fellowship, culture and service.
The Convention atmosphere began building on Wednesday with the RBM Charity Golf event, before Thursday saw delegates arriving, registering and reconnecting with friends from across the international YMI community.
Thursday’s Opening Ceremony provided a colourful and memorable start to the official programme. Flags representing the countries and territories of the YMI movement filled the Ballroom during the Flag Parade, followed by the installation of the International Executive Officers. The programme also featured local cultural performances and a keynote address by Professor Paul Ong.
Celebrations continued into the evening with a cocktail reception and dinner, attended by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who also addressed delegates. Cultural performances, a spectacular lion dance, music and dancing, and performances by delegates themselves brought the first day to a lively conclusion.
From the first arrivals and reunions to the colour and energy of the Opening Ceremony and evening celebrations, Day 1 set the scene for the days ahead.
