YMI World – April 2026

A change of course, a shared commitment

The April edition of YMI World reflects a movement responding to both challenge and opportunity, while staying firmly focused on service.

This month brings an important announcement for our global fellowship. Following careful consideration, the 75th International Convention has been relocated from Dubai to Penang, Malaysia, where it will now take place from 10–13 September 2026. This decision, taken to ensure a safe and accessible gathering for all, also opens the door to a vibrant new setting for the YMI Festival of Dreams. With its rich cultural heritage and strong YMCA presence, Penang offers an inspiring environment for connection, exchange, and celebration.

April also carries a strong programme focus, with Roll Back Malaria and Week4Waste at the centre of our shared efforts. In alignment with World Malaria Day on 25 April, clubs and partners continue to expand their work in prevention, education, and community health. This issue highlights both the global scale of the challenge and the practical actions being taken on the ground, including new projects and partnerships supporting vulnerable communities.

At the same time, Week4Waste reminds us that environmental responsibility begins locally. From community clean-up initiatives to wider awareness efforts linked to Earth Day, clubs across the Areas are demonstrating how collective action can lead to visible and lasting change.

Elsewhere in this issue of YMI World, you’ll find:

  • Updates from IHQ, including reflections on global developments and leadership collaboration
  • Insights from the RDE Summit and the introduction of the Blue Music vision
  • TOF Project Spotlights focusing on mental health and chronic disease prevention
  • Reports from across the Areas highlighting service, growth, and fellowship worldwide
  • Features on dementia awareness and senior wellbeing, reinforcing Focus 2.4 priorities
  • Key UN observance days connecting local service with global challenges

Together, the stories in this edition show a movement that adapts when needed, acts where it matters, and continues to serve with purpose and unity.

Contributions for the next issue of YMI World are due by 15 April 2026.

Let’s keep writing this story, together.
