YMI World – May 2026

The moment to act, the future to shape

The May edition of YMI World brings together urgency and opportunity, as our movement looks ahead while investing in the people who will lead it forward.

This month’s cover carries a clear message: the final call for Early Bird registration for IC 2026 in Penang, Malaysia, with the extended rate of USD 495 available until 31 May 2026. With preparations well underway and new programme details emerging, the YMI Festival of Dreams is taking shape as a landmark global gathering. From cultural excursions to shared fellowship, Penang offers a setting that promises both connection and inspiration. Members are strongly encouraged to secure their place while the Early Bird opportunity remains open.

Alongside this, May places a strong emphasis on Leadership Development and Youth Engagement, recognising that the strength of YMI lies in its ability to renew itself. Across the organisation, efforts are focused on equipping current leaders, preparing incoming officers, and creating meaningful pathways for young people to grow, contribute, and lead.

This issue highlights how leadership is being developed in practice, from structured training programmes and global resource sharing to hands-on learning experiences across Regions. At the same time, the growing role of youth is clearly visible. Through initiatives such as the International Youth Convocation and targeted development projects, young members are not only participating but shaping the direction of the movement.

A standout example is this month’s TOF Project Spotlight from Chiang Mai, where young people are trained as Wellness Agents to support community health, combining leadership development with direct social impact.

Elsewhere in this issue of YMI World, you’ll find:

  • Messages from international leadership as the 2025/26 term approaches its conclusion
  • Updates from IHQ on global activities, training initiatives, and upcoming events
  • Reports from across the Areas highlighting service, growth, and fellowship worldwide
  • Features showcasing youth engagement, leadership development, and community impact
  • UN observance days linking YMI’s work with global priorities

As the term moves towards its close, May is both a moment to act and a moment to prepare — to strengthen participation, invest in leadership, and ensure that the next chapter of YMI is built on a confident and capable foundation.

Contributions for the next issue of YMI World are due by 15 May 2026.

Let’s keep writing this story, together.
