Election Results 2019/20
Voting for International Officers
The deadline for this year’s International Election was 31 January 2020. The results were ratified at a meeting of the International Secretary General and International Executive Officers on 8 February 2020.
Until the deadline, 841 clubs had sent in their voting ballots for International Officers. Based on the number of clubs eligible to vote (914 clubs), the participation rate was 92%.
New International Executive Officers (IEOs)
Mr Kim Sang-chae
Korea Bu-Ul-Gyeong Region, Korea Area
International President Elect (IPE)
Candidates were nominated by the International Council from names submitted by Regional Directors on behalf of each Region and by the Nominating Committee.
Mr Kim Sang-chae, Korea Bu-Ul-Gyeong Region, Korea Area, was elected International President Elect for 2020/21. Mr Kim was nominated by the Korea Bu-Ul-Gyeong Region, Korea Chonbuk, Korea Seoul, Korea South and Korea West Regions.
Mr T.M. Jose
West India Region, India Area
International Treasurer Elect (ITE)
Candidates were nominated by the International Council from names submitted by Regional Directors on behalf of each Region and by the Nominating Committee.
Mr T.M. Jose, West India Region, India Area, was elected International Treasurer Elect for 2020/21. Mr Jose was nominated by the West India Region.
New International Council Members (ICMs)
Asia Pacific
Mr Tsutomu Ohno (Japan West Region) was elected to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and as AP/ICM from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2022.
Canada/Caribbean
Mr Brian Minielly (Central and Western Canada Region) was elected unopposed to serve as International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and as ICM from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2023.
Canada/Caribbean
Ms Seham Rabaa (Central & Western Canada Region) was elected unopposed to serve as International Council Member (Young) from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2022.
Europe
Bjørn Arve Bentsen (Norway Region) was elected unopposed to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and as AP/ICM from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2022.
Korea
Mr Park Sung-chul (Daegu Gyeongbuk Region), was elected unopposed to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and then as Area President/International Council Member from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
USA
Mr Shaju Sam (North Atlantic Region), was elected unopposed to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and then as Area President/International Council Member from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2023.
No ICM/ICM(E) elections were needed in the following Areas
Africa
Mr Tom Ibusi WAKA (Africa Southeast Region) was elected last year to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2019 until 30 June 2020 and as AP/ICM from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2022.
Asia Pacific
Mr Soo Theng Lua (David) (Southeast Asia Region) was elected last year to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2019 until 30 June 2020 and as AP/ICM from 1 July 2020 until 30 June 2021 and PAP/ICM from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2022.
India
Mr Aurelian FIGUREIDO (Mid West India Region), Mr Joseph KOTTOORAN (Mid West India Region) and Mr Shanavaskhan A.K. (South West India Region) were elected last year to each serve as International Council Member Elect from 1 July 2019 until 30 June 2020 and then as International Council Member from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2022.
Latin America
Mrs Rossana CROCI REYES (Latin America Region), was elected last year to serve as Area President Elect/International Council Member from 1 July 2019 until 30 June 2020 and then as Area President/International Council Member from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2022.
